Indicates whether a condition, valuation, insurance, charge, or covenant applies to a specific collateral item rather than to the borrower or facility generally.
Is Collateral Specific identifies whether a requirement or observation relates to a particular security asset. In MSME credit files, collateral may include multiple properties, machines, deposits, vehicles, or receivables, and each asset can have separate valuation, ownership, insurance, legal opinion, and charge status. For example, an insurance gap may apply only to one machine, while title verification may apply to a specific property. This distinction matters because collateral-level issues should not be confused with borrower-level or facility-level conditions. It helps operations, legal, and monitoring teams track exactly which asset needs action. The common mistake is to write generic collateral remarks without linking them to the correct asset, causing confusion during disbursement or recovery.
