Documented reason and evidence supporting the borrower’s MSME classification, including Udyam details, enterprise type, activity, investment, turnover, and eligibility basis.
Justification of MSME Classification records why the borrower has been classified as micro, small, or medium enterprise. In MSME lending, the classification affects product eligibility, regulatory reporting, priority-sector treatment, and sometimes scheme benefits. A good justification should refer to Udyam registration, enterprise activity, PAN/GST linkage, investment and turnover criteria, and any policy-specific rules. For example, a borrower should not be marked as micro merely because the requested loan amount is small; the classification must match the applicable MSME criteria. This field matters because incorrect classification can create compliance and reporting issues. The common caution is to keep the basis updated when turnover or investment changes, and to retain supporting documents for audit.
