Indicates whether a person is authorised to sign documents, operate accounts, or act on behalf of the borrower. It supports KYC, documentation, and operational control.
Is Authorized Signatory confirms whether the individual has valid authority to sign loan documents, operate accounts, submit applications, or represent the borrower. In MSME lending, authority may come from board resolutions, partnership deeds, proprietorship declarations, mandates, powers of attorney, or account-operating instructions. For example, a company director may be a promoter but still require a board resolution to sign facility documents. This field matters because improperly signed documents can create legal and operational issues later. It also helps prevent fraud or unauthorised borrowing. The common caution is to verify authority from current documents, not only from the person’s designation or verbal confirmation. Any change in directors, partners, or mandate should be updated before disbursement.
