Instruction defining who can operate an account or sign banking documents, such as singly, jointly, either or survivor, authorised signatory, or mandate-based operation.
Mode of Operation specifies how an account or facility can be operated and who is authorised to give instructions. In MSME banking, this may depend on constitution, board resolution, partnership deed, mandate, or authorised signatory list. For example, a company current account may require any two authorised directors to sign, while a proprietorship account may be operated singly by the proprietor. This field matters because wrong operation instructions can lead to unauthorised transactions, document defects, or customer disputes. It is also important during disbursement, repayment setup, cheque issuance, and account servicing. The common caution is to update the mode whenever partners, directors, mandates, or signatories change and to keep supporting authorisation documents.
