Date on which a sanctioned credit limit expires or requires renewal. It controls further utilisation, review timelines, documentation validity, and monitoring actions.
Limit Expiry is the date after which a sanctioned facility should not continue without renewal, extension, or fresh approval. In MSME lending, working-capital limits, ad hoc limits, non-fund limits, and temporary enhancements often carry defined validity. For example, a cash-credit limit may need annual renewal based on updated financials, stock statements, conduct, and collateral review. This date matters because using an expired limit can create policy breach, documentation weakness, and monitoring risk. It also helps branches plan review proposals before expiry. The common caution is to track limit expiry separately from document expiry, insurance expiry, review due date, and collateral valuation date; all may require different actions.
