Customer or account identifier linking related accounts, facilities, or borrower records under a common customer information file. It supports deduplication and exposure aggregation.
Linked Account or CIF Number connects the borrower’s different accounts, facilities, and customer records under a common identifier. In MSME banking, one customer may have a current account, cash-credit account, term loan, guarantee limit, and deposit relationships, all linked through CIF or related account mapping. This linkage helps the lender view total exposure, conduct history, KYC status, and relationship value. For example, a renewal proposal should consider not only the loan account but also the operating account and other linked facilities. This field matters because missing linkage can lead to duplicate records, incomplete exposure assessment, or wrong customer servicing. The common caution is to verify name, PAN, GSTIN, and account mapping before relying on the linked identifier.
